1. Introduction Coal is the most extensively used fossil fuel, and coalbased electricity is the main source of power in most countries of the world. Coal is expected to account for around 27 % of the world's energy mix by 2035 [1]. China, India, United States, Indonesia, Australia, and Russia are the world's six largest coal producers.
The resource endowment structure of being coalrich and oilpoor makes China's production of coalbased ammonia and urea, with a low production cost and a good market, a competitive advantage. However, the process suffers from high CO2 emissions and low energy efficiency and carbon utilization efficiency due to the mismatch of hydrogentocarbon ratio between raw coal and chemicals.
